The "Real" story...

Let me start by saying I'm not sure what's up with Blogger, but some of my functions have been taken away....seems like something was updated a few months back and it's still not right. So sorry in advance for the lack of "creativity" b/c I just haven't taken the time to figure it out. If anyone can offer some IT advice, that would be helpful :-) Ok...onto the meat. So as usual, I've been a slacker at this blog thing. It's not b/c of all the excuses that I've made up in the past ( we'll maybe just a few) but I'm just feeling out this whole blog thing. You can see somewhat of who's looking at your stuff, but not specifics..as in who they are. I don't have a problem with this...as long as no one is taking our family photo's and using them inappropriatley...know what I mean. I look at many blogs and I have no clue who some of these folks are, but I enjoy reading about their crazy lives too! I know...I'm rambling today, sorry. So I've had a lot to post about, but wasn't sure what kind of vulnerabilty I really wanted to open myself up to out here. Plus, this "journal" is a keepsake for our family and quite frankly it's not always gumdrops and rainbows. I'm not going to come on here and be "Debbie Downer" all the time, but I think it's note worthy and theraputic to share trials and tribulations. What if someone else is having a bad day/week/month, etc... and really needed to know that everyone else is not perfect. let's face it, our kids aren't always little angels...nor are we adults! So TODAY...I'm keepng it real. Leave NOW, if you don't want to hear it! I've been in a FUNK and I'm having a hard time coming out. So much has been going on. This is my favorite time of year and I don't want to feel yuck, I want to have fun and bake and decorate ( and yes, I'm going to do all of that!) Let me start by just letting you all in on a few secrets..that ain't secrets anymore! My job has not been going so hot, and I've been very stressed about that. Most of you know that I'm a medical coder and I work from home. I used to have lots of flexibility and now alot of that is changing. I've been blessed to do this for 6 years now, however, with Greg's fire schedule, one of us HAS to be flexible. We haven't quite figured out a solution to this yet, so please pray for that situation. I know alot of people have no choice, but Greg and I both feel really stongly about one of us being here at home with our kids afterschool...just being present. Will has started preschool full-time and he's having a hard time adjusting. Ideally, he really needs a part-time program. THis is where I worry sometimes about sharing b/c I know everyone has a different opinion about this topic...I know many kids go to daycare all day long and turn out just fine...Madi did...but do I regret that time I missed with her at a young age..YES. Can I go back, NO. I struggle with this ALL the time. The other side of me says " Hello, there are bills to pay!". Here's the BIG BOMB...so if you haven't heard, for quite sometime, Greg and I have been in the process of adopting a child. We are still in our homestudy phase if you know anything about adoption. THis has been a gut wrenching, tear-jerker, stay awake at night, stress some more process and we're not even matched with a child child yet. Let's just say our feet are barely wet. I'm being totally honest, it's scary. However, there will be more post to come about this. I just needed to tell you so you could pray for us. We are confussed and scared many times, but we really just want to follow God's leading for our life and our family. We are NOT in control, God is. I don't know how all of this is going to play out or if it's really going to come to fruition, but we're trusting in him to guide us...God: if this is where you want us, open up the doors, if NOT, please close them. That's been our prayer and it still is. We just don't know. Like I said, there is SO much I could post about this, but I promise I'll talk more about it soon. We actually have another social worker visit this weekend...this is #3 out of 4. So to say that I've been a little stressed is an understatement! I'm a natural born worrier and I can't help it...I worry about everything! This creates anxiety for me and it's been "OFF THE HOOK". Another problem...I know, I'm full of them and I warned you!! I've had high blood pressure for years...this was one of the many reasons I decided to have gastric bypass ( I'll do a whole post about that one day!) and yes, I've lost over a 100lbs but my blood pressure has raised it's ugly head again. I'm having trouble regulating it...it goes from high to low, etc.. And well, the anxiety makes it worse! I know, I'm just a mess!! I've been in close contact with my doctor, and things are starting to settle down, but please pray for re-newed strength and health. I think I've shared all of this in order to ask for prayers and second, you never know what someone else has going on. Somebody can look great on the outside but have so much going on inside. I'm totally ok and the old me would have NEVER shared this b/c I want you to think that I'm superwoman...but I'm not....no one is and that's ok. DO the best that YOU can do, don't worry about who's doing what. Do what works for your family. We all have a tendency to place this little thing called "comparison" on ourselves. God has given us all different gifts for a reason. I know that God wants what's best for all of us, we just have to submit our lives to him. Ask him for guidance, surround yourself with good people and everyting else will fall into place. I started a prayer journal this morning and I can't tell you how good it felt to actually write my request and concerns down on paper to GOD. You should try it. Smile, call an old friend, send a text...do something little for someone today...you never know what may be going on inside. If I can EVER pray for any of you ( whoever you are reading!!) and you don't feel comfortable leaving a message on the blog, just send me an e-mail: kmfisher109@gmail.com Keeping it Real! Kyla

Willie, You have taught us SO much in your short 3 years. We don't take a single day for granted. On the way to school this morning, your sister prayed the sweetest prayer thanking God for bringing you into this world! We knew you were fiesty from day one and we all spoil you rotten....we can't help it! Your big eyes and long eyelashes melt everyone's heart. You have amazed us this year with all you have acomplished and we know that God has big plans for you!! You make us laugh all the time playing pirates and the funny things you randomly say! You're a picky eater and I'm totally not use to that as your sister eats everything! I was shocked when you wouldn't eat spaghetti the other night! You have a sweet tooth and you LOVE suckers...the blue one's to be exact!! You are ALL BOY! Jumping on the trampoline is one of your greatest pleasures......boy do we get our exercise with you! There is NEVER a dull moment and we wouldn't have it any other way! Happy Birthday Wonder Will!! We LOVE you more than you can imagine!!

It's BRISTOL BABY!!!!

Greg and I got the opportunity to get away with some friends and go to a nascar race last Wed-Sunday. I'm not a hard core race fan, but I do enjoy watching a race from time to time. When Madi was a baby, we went to a race in Charlotte and from watching on TV, I've always wanted to go to Bristol. It's a half-mile track, its fast and most of the time it's "high action"....like last year when Tony Stewart threw his helmet at another driver! Bristol was everything and more that I anticipated...we had a BLAST!! The funny part ( well there were MANY funny parts) is that I have never been camping! I'm not really down with "roughing" it! However, this was my kind of camping....as it involved a hot shower! Our friends have a really nice camper and they are PROS at this!! We ate, laughed, talked, sat around a camp fire, got ate up by mosquitos, caught up on sleep and just had a REALLY GOOD TIME!!! Greg and I had not been anywhere w/o kids in 5 years and it was LONG overdue. We love our kids dearly, but every couple should go away atleast once a year if it's just for a weekend. We came back feeling refreshed, which in turn makes us better parents. I told Greg this was the best sleep I had gotten in years...probably due to the fact that I didn't have a kid or dog in the bed with me!! Being away with friends and my husband brought back memories to our dating years and made me realize just how much I love him and how much fun we have together! We've already been invited back and I'm counting down the days...359!!

Double Digits!

Happy 10th Birthday Madi!!
You have brought us so much JOY over the past 10 years! We Love you more than you can imagine! Your sweet spirit and smile brightens every room that you enter.  We are so PROUD of the young lady that you are becoming and all that you have accomplished, we know that you will go far in life! We hope you have a wonderful Birthday Sweet Pea!!

I have SO much to blog about..Greg and I just got back from a fabulous "adults only trip" and I am REFRESHED!! We had SO much fun, I told him we had to get away more often and take a break..The last time we went anywhere( w/o kids) was 5 years ago...so we were LONG overdue! I'll leave you with some first day school pics and I'll be back soon to catch up! Hugs-kyla

Here I go again...

I know...MIA for the 100th time! We are back and gearing up for school and a whole bunch of exciting things that I will be sharing soon. It's gonna be wild, so hold on to your seats!! In the meantime, here's what we've been up to! So we went to the beach with Greg's mom and had a great time! It was relaxing and very low key. We hung out at the beach and pool the majority of our stay! Grandma had bought tickets for the kids to see the "pirate show" as Will calls it...Pirates Voyage and that was fun! Will is STILL talking about it! The funny part is he seemed terrified most of the time we were there...I really didn't think he was enjoying himself. He never cried, but he wanted me to hold him the entire time....every once in a while he would just shake/tremble, but wouldn't say anything! His eyes were HUGE and he didn't take his eyes off the pirates! It wasn't till we got home that he started talking about it!! He talks about the mermaids and the pirates all the time!! I think we might have a little pirate for halloween! We did manage to make a stop my Krispy Kreme,b/c we can't visit myrtle beach w/o getting a HOT donut! We always like to go and feed the turtles and this visit was no different...I might have called Greg the "turtle man" a few times. He lures them out of the water and then picks them up...he also thinks it's funny to place them right next to mine or Madi's feet to see if they will lunge in our direction...NOT funny! My cousin Jennifer and her family were staying at Ocean Isle for the week, so we met up with them one day and spent a couple hours on the beach "catching up" until this huge storm decided to come and bust up our party! It was fun while it lasted! Since being back home, we've been shopping for school supplies and I've been planning a birthday party for Madi and Will. Speaking of party...I helped my mom make this really cute Dr.Suess centerpiece...it was fairly easy and oh SO cute!! I love Dr.Suess...maybe we can have a Dr.Suess party next year! Ok...I think that's it for now! I'm getting Fall fever....I LOVE me some pumpkins!! My computer is totally acting crazy, so I'm going to post this and I will update with pics soon..stay tuned! Till next time!

a little recap....

So, I seem to be getting further and further behind with this blog thing! I'm gonna say I'll do better after summer is over :-)  So here is a little re-cap of what's been happening in the fisher world!
Madi got braces!!

She was such a tropper, I took her straight to chick-fil-A for a milkshake!
2 days later, we went to Busch Gardens with a group from church!  All four of us went...I was a little hesitant about taking Will, but he did great!  his favorite part was seeing ELMO!  I didn't take too many pictures that day, but here are a few!

Everyone's favorite furry friend! I didn't get a picture of Will's face b/c he would not turn around! He was all about ELMO! They wouldn't let you "cross the line" to take a picture!

Madi & Kayleigh ( a sweet little girl from our church)

Madi looking a little unsure about this ride...too late now!

Will and his friend Cole waiting patiently!!

Then Madi was baptized...this is our interim pastor Dr.Thompson.  It was such a sweet service! I was so emotional that morning...before we even made it to church! I guess it's because I'm just SO proud of Madi and the young lady she is becoming! Not just because she is my child, but I am so blessed to have a child with such a sweet spirit about her.  I am so thankful that she LOVES GOD and understands the importance of having Him in her life. After the baptism, we then had communion.  It was really neat to witness her baptism and first communion all in the same day! We had LOTS of family to come and witness this special time and so we had lunch at our house afterwards!

Then this little squirt, stayed for the week to attend VBS and dance camp!

Madi and Katie had a blast at dance camp!!  VBS was awesome and Will is still asking to go to "bible school"! I taught Will's class and we had so much fun! I have to say though...I was EXHAUSTED at the end of the week!  The kids looked so cute every night and I didn't take 1 picture!! Oh well. Friday night we took Katie bug home :-( and I called her Saturday to tell her I missed her that my house was too quiet without her.  Katie said " I know LaLa..my house is loud!!" No kidding!!  I love her to pieces, but she is one WILD child!! I miss u sweet tator!!
This weekend was still a little crazy as always..Madi had a slumber party Friday night...we caught up on laundry and went to costco saturday morning..then Saturday afternoon a pool party for one of Madi's friends! Madi had a friend come and spend the night Saturday after the pool party and then church on Sunday.  We all took a much needed nap Sunday afternoon!! This week is low key as we are headed back to the beach.  This is probably our last beach trip before school starts back!  Which reminds me when Will woke up Sunday morning he said " I go to beach mommy, peaaaassss!!!" I told him just a few more days!!
Oh I almost forgot a funny story! We met Mallory at Cracker Barrel Friday night to exchange katie and they were busy!  We had to wait a little bit and our waitress (well, I really don't know what to say about her other than she was having a hard night!) so the kids were off the hook!!  They weren't being loud...they just got restless.  After Will ate, I let him get down out of his seat and he crawled under the table.  I know...first thought, EWWW.  But look, he wasn't screaming and I felt like it was nothing that a bath couldn't take care of! So he was tickling Katie's feet under the table and all of a sudden Mallory is like EWWWW!!  Will licked her leg!  I have NO clue what possesed him to do this and she was totally grossed out. Will thought it was hillarious!  My sister doesn't handle chaios too well and this was like the icing on the cake! I really should have taken a picture of this scene...our table looked liked a tornado hit...plates, crayons, paper, biscuits.....EVERYWHERE!  I offered to take the kids to look at toys so mom and mal could finish eating in peace!
I'll leave you with a few pictures from last night because this is how we roll around here! I was trying to cook and Will was screaming so I gave him a bowl with a little flour and a spoon to keep him busy...it was going good at first....until I turned my back for 1 second!

Then Madi wanted in on the fun!
Buddy checking out the damage! I'm sure he's thinking " Somebody's in trouble and it ain't me this time!"

How can you get upset at this??  Just a little flour, right! Will helps me keep my floors clean!

That's about it...oh one more...I got my haircut and I'm loving it!

OK...I think we're caught up! Keeping it real-Kyla :-)
